02 - How the work moves
From a blank page to a live product.
Define the problem, then the first useful version.
Before anything is generated, you decide what the product is actually for and what the first genuinely useful version of it looks like. We help you break a large idea into features small enough to build one at a time, and to write instructions an AI tool can act on without inventing the rest.
Ten code reviews a month. Two hours a week.
You build with AI. We read what it produces - does it do what you actually asked, can the wrong person get at the wrong information, will the way things are stored cause trouble later, could anyone still make sense of this in six months. Two private one-hour sessions each week cover what a review cannot: what to build next, why an approach will not hold, how to read the error in front of you.
Test it somewhere safe. Then go live.
Your app gets two homes: a private one that only you can see, and the live one your customers use. Every change has to prove itself in the private one first. We build the machinery that moves it between them, keeps a record of every version you have ever had, and checks each release automatically - so a bad change can always be undone.

A foundations course - and we get you through it.
The purpose is not to turn you into a professional developer before you begin. It is to give you enough understanding to build safely and make good decisions - so that when an AI tool suggests something, you can tell whether it is a good idea.
You work through it, and pass it, before you are handed the keys to the live environment. It covers how apps actually work; where information is kept and how it is protected; how to keep a record of every change you make; how to test something before customers ever see it; logins, passwords and who is allowed to do what; backups and keeping an eye on things; and the mistakes AI-generated code makes most often.
Somewhere to test. Somewhere to launch.
A private version of your app where you can try things and break things, and the live one your customers use. We own and run the machines both of them sit on, so the same security, backup and monitoring standards apply to your product from the first day. If you ever need more than these two, extra ones are available for a monthly fee.
Two private sessions every week.
Two one-hour sessions, every week, with an experienced developer. Plan the next feature, review a technical approach, work through an error, argue about how information should be organised, or get a feature ready to go live. You still do the building. You just never have to guess.
Ten code reviews a month.
Send us your work up to ten times a month. We check whether it does what you meant, whether anyone could reach information they should not, whether it will still make sense to you later, and what happens when something goes wrong - and we write back in plain language. Extra bundles are available if ten is not enough.

Software University is being shaped by practising production software developers, with day-to-day experience building and maintaining Ruby on Rails applications and delivering client software from implementation through deployment.
That means the guidance reaches beyond code that happens to run on a local machine: it includes architecture, safe releases, review, security, maintainability and the practical work of keeping software useful in production.

Software University is a guided building programme, not an unlimited software-development service. It is worth being precise about the edges before you decide.

You remain responsible for your product, customers and legal obligations. Our guidance and reviews are there to reduce risk and improve quality - they cannot guarantee an application will never contain a bug or a vulnerability. If you need our team to build something substantial, that work can be assessed and quoted separately.
07 - Common questions
The things people actually ask us.
I have never written a line of code. Is this really for me?
Yes. That is exactly who the programme is built for. The AI tools produce the code - our job is to teach you enough to direct them well and to judge what comes back. You do not need a maths background, a technical job, or any previous experience.
Do I need to have an idea already?
Yes. Everything is built around a product you genuinely want to exist - your own business, a tool for the industry you work in, something you keep wishing someone would make. It does not need to be original or fully formed. It does need to be yours.
What will I actually have at the end?
A working application, live on the internet at your own web address, that real people can sign up to and use - and that you own outright. Not a certificate and not a practice exercise. The product you came in wanting to build.
How much of my own time will this take?
The two one-hour sessions each week are fixed, and the rest is yours to arrange around your life. Be honest with yourself, though: this is a serious side project, not a course you watch in the evenings. Your progress will follow the hours you put in between sessions.
What does it cost?
The price is not final yet - setting it is one of the things we are asking the shortlist to help with, which is why the survey asks what the programme would be worth to you. Shortlist members receive the final pricing before anyone is asked to commit to anything, and 20% off the first six months if they join during the launch period.
What if I get stuck between sessions?
Send it in as one of your ten monthly reviews, or bring it to the next session - which is never more than a few days away. What we do not offer is instant help at any hour. That is a real limitation, and it is why the sessions are twice a week rather than once.
